Job Description –

As a Medical Writer I, you will support a variety of accounts and have a leading role in the development of exciting and innovative projects. On a day-to-day basis, you’ll cover a wide variety of projects, including congress activities, training materials, and HCP education (across a number of formats, including digital applications). You’ll help to maintain the high editorial and scientific standards on your accounts, while ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. You may also have the chance to work with our other disciplines (advertising, PR and

CTE) and sister agencies within the Publicis Groupe. Whilst our main therapy areas are currently oncology, dermatology, HIV, rare diseases and respiratory disease, new business wins mean there are often exciting opportunities to work in other areas too. Critical Job Criteria –

• Strong therapy area knowledge across ≥2 therapy areas and stages of drug development

• Able to interpret implications of emerging developments in assigned therapy areas

• Takes responsibility for the timely day-to-day delivery of scientific content, ensuring quality, scientific accuracy and integrity

• Capably queries brief to optimise successful delivery and ensure excellence in execution

• Develops clear, compelling and user-friendly content—from brief development at the outset through to project delivery—with little guidance

• Capably handles more complex content development requests (such as detail aid development, 24-hour advisory board reports, meeting agendas) with light oversight

• Able to prioritise workload to complete assigned tasks and delegate to other team members with minimal guidance

• Identifies brand implications of scientific and medical research

• Identifies opportunities for organic growth with existing clients and proposes ideas

• Proactively identifies where a strategic objective is not being met (e.g. through SWOT analyses of the brand) and provides potential solutions

• Communicates confidently and articulately in formal and informal settings Knowledge and insights

• Able to assimilate relevant information, effectively analyse and interpret scientific data, and gain a thorough understanding of new therapy areas quickly to apply to written materials

• Strong knowledge across a number of therapy areas (≥2 areas) and stages of drug development

• Able to interpret implications of emerging developments in assigned therapy areas

• Understands pre- and post-launch settings and how narratives and tactical plans evolve as a drug achieves marketing authorization.

Writing and content curation abilities –

• Develops clear, compelling and user-friendly content—from brief development at the outset through to project delivery—with little oversight

• Develops content that meets high editorial standards (i.e. is scientifically and grammatically accurate, clear and well written, correctly formatted, visually appealing) with light supervision from Senior Medical Writer II or higher

• Experienced across a broad range of deliverables both pre- and post-launch, and capably handles more complex content development requests (such as de novo detail aid development and 24-hour advisory board reports)

• Is adept at writing commercially focused materials such as story flows/frameworks and competitor comparisons

• Adapts writing style to suit a range of different audiences, such as healthcare professionals (generalists and experts), patients, MSLs, sales reps.

Reviewing ability –

• Can proofread and accurately data check complex content/data

• Provides solutions to data and referencing challenges

• Effectively copy edits a range of projects typically encountered (e.g. medical and marketing slide decks, scripts, publication summaries)

• Identifies and resolves where work is not aligned to either the client brief or strategic objectives, seeking guidance from more senior writers as needed.

Account teamworking, budgeting and project management –

• Ability to prioritise workload with good time-management skills—able to complete assigned tasks and delegate to other team members with minimal guidance

• Adheres to project parameters including: deadlines, budget and content limitations

• Identifies impact of out-of-scope changes and communicates this to the account team

• Proactively initiates discussions with account teams regarding potential barriers to successful project completion.

Growth mindset and new business-

• Contributes to new business pitches and proposals as needed

• Identifies brand implications of scientific and medical research

• Identifies opportunities for organic growth with existing clients and proposes ideas.

Strategic planning and delivery-

• Able to assimilate the commercial and scientific context for assigned therapeutic areas

• Aware of the strategic objectives for the brands to which assigned and applies these effectively (with guidance if appropriate) in written work

• Proactively identifies where a strategic objective is not being met (e.g. through SWOT analyses of the brand) and provides potential solutions

Leadership and stakeholder relationship skills-

• Communicates confidently and articulately in formal and informal settings

• Reliably executes client and account team requests, adapts to meet changing needs, and takes ownership for

delivering results

• Proactively communicates regarding a project status and any arising challenges.
